Morocco is a Latin word derived from "Morroch" which is a name from the medieval times called Marrakesh. Marrakesh Morocco or known as the "Red City" is situated just below the mountain of Atlas. It has always been a city of pleasure for many tourists, the marketplace is where the villagers and tribesmen of Berber find good entertainment, spend money, and bring in their products to sell. The city has been called red because of the color it radiates in a low, tent-like, red scape of mountains.
At the center of the city of Marrakesh Morocco is Djemaa El Fna. It is a large open space at the heart of the city where the entertainment is held. It has become the stage for rituals who performs acts and acrobats where the people gather in circle to watch the show. Performances include fairground acts, pipe musicians, drummers, dancers, story tellers, and comedians. Added architectural attractions in the city include the Menara gardens, the delicate Granada carving style of the Saadian Tombs, the Agdal still basins, and the North Africa Islamic monument Koutoubia Minaret.
The valleys near the Ourika and Draa Rivers near the Atlas Mountain and Sahara desert are the most visited sights in Marrakesh Morocco. You can also trek or hike along the middle part of the mountain of Atlas in order to see the Beni Mellal waterfalls. Getting around Marrakesh by train is the most convenient way of transportation. If you want to visit other towns, you can do so by train as it goes to Rabat and Casablanca twice a day. For long drives and travels, take the bus from the terminal of Bab Doukkala. You could buy tickets ahead before your travel date or get there early so you can get to tour around the popular destinations in Morocco like Fez and Zagora.
